From the moment you land, Marrakesh captivates you with its energy. The streets have their own rhythm, chaos turns into harmony, and everything feels like being inside a movie. At MIAMIX, we crossed the Mediterranean to experience it firsthand and, as always, we encountered stories of Latinos who decided to make this city their home. What happened was pure connection.

The Medina is the heart of it all. That’s where we met Romerlyn Ruiz, a Venezuelan belly dancer who opened the doors to her daily life and showed us the most authentic corners of this magical labyrinth. Walking alongside her was like seeing the city through different eyes: every alley has soul, every stall a story, every gesture a tradition. “Living here is learning to see differently, to breathe slower, and to let yourself go,” she told us. And yes, there’s no better way to put it. We also crossed paths with Natali Rucker, an Argentine actress who lives in the city seasonally, especially during theater season. She shared how this city inspired her to reconnect with what’s essential. “Here I discovered another way of acting, of inhabiting the body, of looking at the world,” she said over mint tea and laughter on a hidden terrace.

When it comes to food, the city is unmatched. Tajín is pure edible art: we tried it with lamb and prunes and also vegetarian, and in all its forms it’s a feast of flavors. Couscous, especially on Fridays, has a special taste because many families cook it according to tradition. And pastela, that pastry that mixes sweet and savory, was a revelation. We ate at street stalls, in hidden courtyards, on terraces, and every bite was a journey within the journey.

Spirituality here is felt in the air. Morocco is a Muslim country and the call to prayer marks the rhythms of the city. During the holy month of Ramadan, the energy changes completely, and witnessing the moment of collective fasting at sunset was deeply moving. One of the rituals that impacted us most was the hammam. First, the heat of the steam opens every pore, then comes an intense exfoliation with a traditional glove, and finally, a massage with argan oil that leaves you like new. It’s one of those things you can’t explain with words, you just have to live it.

Marrakesh didn’t just offer us landscapes, flavors, and colors. It gave us something deeper: the encounter with people like Romerlyn and Natali, who found here a new way of living, expressing themselves, and connecting. Now we’re getting ready to head to the desert, but this city has already marked us. It taught us that traveling isn’t just about moving, but about transforming. And that, definitely, is what we came here to find.
